Restricted or constricted areas of the body – (areas which are not moving normally or are “strangled” or “squeezed”) may be present in the following systems:
- musculoskeletal [back pain…]
- respiratory [asthma..]
- cardiovascular [hypertension..]
- digestive [IBS, Crohn’s, Colitis…]
- reproductive [Infertility…]
- nervous [stress, anxiety…]
Osteopathic Manual Practitioners seek to identify and then gently ease the restrictions or constrictions so the body can function normally again. We use a range of different techniques to help improve your bodily function, but we never use drugs or other invasive methods. Everything is always all-natural.

MANUAL OSTEOPATHY IS BASED ON 4 BASIC PRINCIPLES:
- Each structure in the body supports the body’s functions. If a structure is damaged, out of place or otherwise not working properly, the body will not function at its best.
- The natural flow of the body’s fluids – lymphatic, vascular, and neurological – must be preserved and maintained
- The human body is the sum of its parts. Its physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive systems don’t work independently – they work in harmony.
- When the body has no restrictions, it has the inherent ability to heal itself.
Osteopathic Manual Practitioners recognize that a patient is an integrated whole. When all of the body’s components are in balance, a person is complete and in total health.
Visceral Osteopathy
What is Visceral Osteopathy?
Visceral Osteopathy, also called visceral manipulation, addresses the relationship between the function and the structure among the internal organs and the musculoskeletal system. For example, whenever the body experiences any stress or strain, certain parts of it will tense up as a visceral response. Pain in a certain area of the body might be attributed to trauma occurring in another part of the body. Visceral Osteopathy helps locate the source of the pain and assists functional and structural imbalance throughout the body.
Visceral Osteopathy can help with a variety of conditions such as:
- Whiplash and other physical trauma
- Difficulty swallowing
- Carpal tunnel
- Digestive problems
- Headaches
- Shoulder and hip pain
- Incontinence
- Back and neck pain
- and more.
Visceral Osteopathy will help induce the natural mechanisms in the body to improve the functioning of the organs, reduce the effects of stress and enhance the overall general health of the body.

Cranial Osteopathy
What is Cranial Osteopathy?
Cranial Osteopathy is using a developed sense of touch to feel any changes of tension and tissue quality in the anatomy of the entire body (including the structures inside the head) in order to help diagnose any area of strain or dysfunction. It helps induce healing by using gentle pressure to manipulate the skeleton and connective tissues, with special focus on the skull and sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spinal column). This practice is based on the theory that the central nervous system (which includes the spinal cord and the brain) has subtle pulsations that are indicators for good health, and is detected by a skilled practitioner.
Cranial Osteopathy treatment is described as very gentle and relaxing. Over the course of treatment, you may find that sensations such as mild tension, sensitivity or aching will gradually dissipate.
Osteopathy During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, the body goes through a tremendous amount of change to accommodate for the new life growing inside you. Many of these changes are an increase in weight, as well as a change in posture – which are the obvious changes. Some less obvious changes are the hormonal effects of the softening of the ligaments, as well as the position of the growing baby. A combination of all these physical changes can put additional pressure on your joints, and the muscles of your spine and pelvis.
Osteopathy treatments during pregnancy are aimed to help assist the natural progress of pregnancy by helping the body adapt and align to the changes in the body as the pregnancy progresses. These treatments are done using safe and efficient techniques, with the comfort of the mother being the top priority. These techniques are carefully catered to each individual in order to minimize any risk throughout the treatments.

Benefits of Osteopathic Treatments

- Removes the underlying cause of pain.
- Increases the range of motion in the joints.
- Treats spinal problems (due to poor posture or other causes).
- Adapts to the hormonal and structural change in pregnancy.
- Reduce scarring and adhesions as a result from accidents.
- Treats or alleviates symptoms of chronic illnesses (such as asthma, arthritis etc.).
- Increases blood circulation and reduces blood pressure.
Osteopathy is used to treat a variety of bodily issues. If you want to know if Osteopathy is the right treatment for you, contact us today.
