Pre-Natal Massage in Downtown Toronto

We offer direct insurance billing.

This is also known as the pregnancy massage. The pre-natal massage is used to induce relaxation and is customized to each expectant mother. It’s a great way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Many women undergoing pregnancy will suffer from symptoms such as lower back pain, swollen ankles, stiff necks, leg cramps and headaches. Pre-natal massage can provide a temporary relief from these symptoms without the use of drugs.

Massage therapists receive specialized training that makes them certified in handling the body of an expectant mother and know the proper ways to position and support them in the best way for the both the mother and the baby.

During the pre-natal massage:

Our therapists take extra care to ensure that our pre-natal massage clients are comfortable with techniques such as sideline positioning with supportive, soft cushions to help alleviate strain on the lower back and pelvic area when the massage techniques are applied.

Depending on what stage of pregnancy the pre-natal massage client is in, the therapist will utilize the proper massage techniques (such as reflexology or Swedish massage) to provide them with optimum comfort and relaxation. Pre-natal massage has been reported to help relax any nervous tension in the body, resulting in a better night’s sleep, and also help relieve any depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

How often should you go for a pre-natal massage?

Since each woman and each pregnancy is different, there is no standard answer for this question. If you are planning to do pre-natal massage, we suggest doing twice a month in the second and third trimester. However, if you are experiencing a difficult pregnancy that comes with a lot of back, leg and hip pains, we recommend that you increase your massage therapy sessions to at least once a week in the last trimester.
